About Reptiles of Wild
Reliable reptile information to help people understand snakes, make informed decisions, protect human lives, and respect wildlife.
Who We Are
Reptiles of Wild is a wildlife education and awareness platform focused on snake and reptile identification, snakebite awareness, public safety, and conservation. We aim to explain the differences between venomous and non-venomous snakes and help people replace fear and misconceptions with knowledge.
Through community education and information-sharing, we encourage safer responses to reptile encounters and greater respect for the important role reptiles play in nature.
Reptile Identification
Helping people understand snakes and other reptiles through clear photographs, location details, and responsible identification guidance.
Snakebite Awareness
Promoting awareness of the importance of urgent medical assessment and appropriate treatment after a suspected snakebite.
Wildlife Conservation
Encouraging coexistence with reptiles and discouraging unnecessary killing driven by fear or misinformation.
Our Mission
Our mission is to share accessible, reliable information that supports public safety and wildlife conservation. We value the contribution of knowledgeable experts, doctors, paramedics, volunteers, and trained snake rescuers in improving awareness and responsible responses to reptile encounters.
We also hope to encourage better snakebite preparedness and access to appropriate medical care, including antivenom when clinically indicated, especially in underserved communities.
Need Help Identifying a Reptile?
If you have seen a snake or another reptile, the following details can help with an identification request.
Share the Location
Provide the country, city, village, or locality where the reptile was observed.
Provide Clear Photos
Share original, clear photographs taken from a safe distance. Useful views of the head and body may help.
Use Original Images
Internet or TikTok images cannot confirm which animal you encountered. Share photos of the actual reptile whenever safely possible.
Snakebite: What to Do
A suspected snakebite is a medical emergency. Seek emergency medical care immediately and follow the advice of qualified healthcare professionals.
- Keep the affected person calm and as still as possible.
- Limit movement and immobilize the bitten limb where practical.
- Remove rings, watches, or tight items near the affected area before swelling develops, if this can be done easily.
- Do not cut or suck the wound, apply ice, or use a tight tourniquet.
- Do not try to catch or kill the snake. A photo from a safe distance is optional and must never delay medical care.
- Do not wait for an online reply or species identification before going to hospital.
Community Guidelines
- Include the location where the reptile was seen.
- Provide clear, original photographs when safely available.
- Post identification questions in the designated group rather than sending private messages, where group rules request this.
- Never disturb or harm wildlife to obtain an identification.
- Be respectful and understand that photographs may not always allow a definitive identification.
Our Commitment to People and Nature
We believe knowledge can reduce unnecessary fear, support safer choices, and encourage respect for wildlife. Every responsible action can help create a better future for people and reptiles alike.
